Presentation to promote culture of workplace safety

Melanie Kowalski-Fleming had been married only seven months when her husband Mark, an industrial electrician, was injured on the job. His fall from a ladder, while working in a confined space, had a profound impact on Kowalski-Fleming and her family.

Now a volunteer with Threads of Life, a charity dedicated to supporting families affected by workplace tragedies, she will share her personal experiences in a presentation entitled “Real Stories for Young Worker Safety” on Monday, Jan. 20.

An opportunity for students to learn how to ask questions and raise concerns about health and safety on the job, the event will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Room 1102, Centre for Engineering Innovation.
