Nominations are now open for the Dr. Alan Wright Award for Exemplary Digital Teaching, which recognizes University of Windsor educators who have demonstrated a commitment to innovation and excellence in digitally enabled teaching.

Sponsored by the Office of Open Learning, the award is open to all instructors who have sustained teaching excellence in online, open, blended, hybrid, hy-flex, or other digital technology enabled learning environments. Candidates can self-nominate or be nominated by colleagues, administrators, staff, students, Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members.

“Teaching with digital technologies and open educational practices transcends traditional boundaries of what is possible in the classroom,” says director Nick Baker. “There are many creative, committed educators at the University who are innovating with their teaching.”

Nobuko Fujita, a learning specialist, adds: “We seek to honour educators who skillfully blend digital technology and pedagogy to create inclusive, meaningful learning experiences for their students.”

The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 15. Details on eligibility, what to include in the application, and nomination process are on the webpage. Complete packages should be submitted in MS-Word or searchable PDF format by email to openlearning@uwindsor.ca with the subject “Alan Wright Award.”

Winners will be announced at the Celebration of Teaching Excellence.
