The raising of the Pan-African flag over campus Thursday marked the start of Black History – Black Futures month celebrations.
A crowd of students, faculty, and staff attended to hear remarks by representatives of the Black community.
“As we prepare to celebrate and honour Black History Month — past, present, and future — let us acknowledge the greatness of peoples of African descent: not only in Canada but globally, not only in February, but all year round,” said Marium Tolson-Murtty, director of anti-racism organizational change.
