It is a tie. The 2023 Board of Governors In-Course Medal for the Faculty of Science has two winners this year — twin sisters Ally and Jenny Noble.

The medals usually go to one student with the highest average in each faculty. But this year in science, the twins tied with their cumulative average of 99 per cent. The third-year undergraduates are in the same double major of biomedical sciences and biochemistry.

“Jenny and I have done almost everything together, so it seems fitting to share this award with her as well,” says Ally Noble.

“We’ve both worked very hard throughout the last year, and I’m very happy to be able to celebrate this accomplishment with her.”

The high achieving sisters, who previously also shared the Ruza Robote Memorial Award, are not simply focused on academics. They each hold two jobs, as well as volunteer in a multitude of places.

Ally Noble wants to be a dentist.

“I’m an executive member of the pre-dental society, volunteer for Let’s Talk Science Outreach at UWindsor, VP Recruitment and Exam-Aid tutor for Students Offering Support, Windsor/Essex Humane Society volunteer, research assistant in Dr. Rondeau-Gagné’s lab under the Outstanding Scholars program, and I’m a lifeguard and swim instructor,” says Ally Noble.

Jenny Noble plans to apply to medical school.

“I decided to attend the University of Windsor because they offer a unique program specifically tailored to professional health schools,” says Jenny Noble.

“I really appreciate the opportunities that the university offers undergrads in research, extracurriculars and academics, and I am so thankful that they have taken the time to recognize the hard work my sister and I have put into our studies.”

She is just as busy as her sister.

“I am the president of the Pre-Medical Society. I am also an Outstanding Scholar and do research in Dr. Dason’s lab as a part of the program. I volunteer for Students Offering Support, Let’s Talk Science, the Humane Society and the Windsor Regional Hospital. I also work at the Toldo Lancer Centre as a lifeguard and swim instructor,” says Jenny Noble.

The Student Awards and Financial Aid office announced all the faculty winners of the Board of Governors in-course medals. The medallists are ranked by major average and must achieve a cumulative average of at least 83 per cent. The recipients are all still working toward their degrees.
