Filmmakers of the psychological thriller Depraved Mind are among the panellists who will discuss “The Art of Horror” as part of the Alumni Meet-Ups series Wednesday.
The University of Windsor Alumni Association has something special planned for spooky season: a panel discussion on “The Art of Horror” as part of its Alumni Meet-Ups series.
Authors C. M. Forest and Ainslie Hogarth and filmmakers Nicholas Shields and Michael Stasko promise a conversation about horror, producing work in Windsor-Essex County, and the literary and cinematic arts on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
A partnership between the alumni association and the River Bookshop, the event will take place starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Hole in the Wall community space above the shop, located at 67 Richmond St. in Amherstburg.
Forest, also known as Christian Laforet, is the author of the novels Infested and We All Fall Before the Harvest, as well as the short story collection The Space Between Houses, and the co-author of the short story collection No Light Tomorrow.
Hogarth (BA 2007) is the author of the darkly comic Motherthing and Normal Women and the young adult novels The Lonely and The Boy Meets Girl Massacre (Annotated).
Shields (BA 1995) is co-founder of the boutique production house Suede Productions. Its latest feature film, the psychological thriller Depraved Mind, is currently making the rounds in festivals throughout North America and will be screened at the Windsor International Film Festival on Oct. 27.
Stasko (BA 2002) has written, produced, and directed five feature films that range from comedy to sci-fi to drama. He produced Depraved Mind with Suede Productions and his horror spoof Vampire Zombies...from Space! is currently in post-production. He is a professor in the UWindsor Department of Communication, Media, and Film.
