The Lancer men’s volleyball and hockey teams will each play for their respective provincial championships on Saturday, March 11, after seeing off challengers this past weekend.
Hockey defeated the Lakehead Thunderwolves in their best-of-three semi-final series with a 4-2 deciding win Saturday following a 2-1 setback in overtime Friday in Thunder Bay. The conference win also entitles the Lancers to a berth in the U Sports national championship tournament.
Mason Kohn scored Windsor’s lone Game 2 goal and opened his side’s scoring in Game 3; Brady Pataki, Sean Olson, and Barret Dachyshyn with an empty-netter sealed the victory.
In Saturday’s contest to decide the Ontario University Athletics championship, the puck will drop at 7:30 p.m. at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.
Tickets are $15, with a youth and senior price of $10. The first 100 students will be admitted free. The Lancer online box office is unavailable due to a security breach with the external provider. Advance tickets will be available for purchase at the box office in the Toldo Lancer Centre, Tuesday 3 to 7 p.m.; Wednesday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday 3 to 8 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
