Amici in Arte welcomes guest speaker and University of Windsor alumnus Mauro Primorac for a talk this Sunday afternoon at the Capitol Theatre.
A Windsor born performer and a graduate of the BFA Acting program, Primorac will discuss many of the “secrets” in Shakespeare’s plays, including King Lear.
Amici in Arte is an arts program under the auspices of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra and the Capitol Theatre.
As a student, Primorac had the opportunity to study and explore a variety of acting styles and methods, including Michael Chekhov, Stanislavski, Mask, Movement Composition, commedia dell’arte, and his specialty — Shakespeare.
”Shakespeare embodies the human condition like no other writer,” says Primorac. “His words do something to me. It’s visceral, exciting, and empowering. It gives me feelings. It gives me breath. I love it.”
Primorac’s stage credits include Carmen (Abridged Opera), Pirate (Blue Nest Theatre), The Resolution (Sho Studios), Electra (Stichomythia Theatre), Titus Andronicus, The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Merchant of Venice, Angels in America (Jackman Studio Theatre), To Moscow, The Crucible, Moliere Impromptu (University Players), and Love Unbound: Romeo and Juliet (Seven Siblings Theatre). His film and television credits include Forbidden: Dying for Love (Investigation Discovery).
Primorac has received awards for his work in “Best of Fringe” and “Outstanding Individual Performance” for Pirate.
His presentation, “Shakespeare Not Afeared,” is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5. The $35 tickets include light refreshments and are available online or at the box office, 121 University Ave. W.
