Undergraduate computer science students got a chance to meet Windsor-based tech innovators during a networking event downtown on Friday, Nov. 18.
Networking Hubs are held across Ontario in the lead up to the annual Canadian Undergraduate Tech Conference (CUTC). Computer science students were invited to 300 Ouellette Ave. for networking, discussions, and learning about STEM in Windsor.
At the Windsor Networking Hub, students met with leading people from BDO, CGI, Blackberry, Rocket Innovation, and WeTech Alliance to learn about employment opportunities and to get feedback on their resumes.
“There are a lot of up-and-coming tech companies here in Windsor with amazing opportunities for undergraduate students and this event is a way to showcase them and highlight the things that they’re offering to students,” says Laila Albalkhi, third-year computer science student, Networking Hub organizer, and 2023 CUTC co-chair.
“The companies here are eager to tap into the UWindsor talent because unfortunately students leave Windsor not knowing the opportunities that exist locally, so it is nice to showcase them and give them a venue.”
The conference will be held in April 2023.
“I really want Windsor to be a key member of the national stage,” Albalkhi says, “to be able to put our names in bright lights and say we do have a lot of talent here.”
