Ontario Agriculture Week is drawing to a close, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to stop celebrating the people who work every day producing safe, healthy food, says Paolo Vasapolli.
Executive chef of Food and Catering Services, he says it’s always appropriate to appreciate the abundance produced by local farmers.
“Let’s all support Ontario farmers during Thanksgiving by filling our plates with fresh, local products,” says Vasapolli.
He proudly points to the efforts the University has made in partnering with Essex County growers to source goods to feed campus diners.
“We live in one of the most agriculturally productive regions in Canada,” Vasapolli says. “I know that at our harvest table, we will be giving thanks for the bountiful cornucopia of our locally-produced fruits, vegetables, meats, and beverages.”
He invites all those interested in exploring the culinary gifts in our backyard to check out how and where to support local in Windsor-Essex.
