Remember what it was like being a student and not being sure what you wanted to do with your career? Or maybe you had a career goal in mind but wished you had a better idea of what you needed to do to reach it and if it would be a good fit for you?

Career Development & Experiential Learning is offering professionals an opportunity to inspire and help a current UWindsor student by sharing their expertise and experience.

CDEL is looking for professionals to host students for the upcoming Fall Virtual Job Shadow Experience. Hosts will spend an hour or two online with a student, providing valuable insights and guidance while answering the student’s questions about their industries and career paths.

This online career development initiative helps students better understand how to connect their studies to the workplace, allowing them to gain a clearer picture of their goals after graduation.

Because the Job Shadow Experience is virtual, professionals can be located anywhere.

Darlene Malcolm, project co-ordinator at Workforce WindsorEssex, hosted two students in the Winter term.

“I would highly recommend hosting a student for a job shadowing experience,” she says. “What a great way to highlight your industry and all the different career pathways within.”

Virtual Job Shadow Experience is set for the University’s reading week: Oct. 12, 13, 14, and 15.
