Selinda Berg will take on the role of university librarian effective July 1, provost Douglas Kneale announced Thursday.
Since 2016, Dr. Berg has been associate university librarian at the Leddy Library, where she holds the primary portfolio for faculty and academic affairs and departmental portfolios for systems and information services.
She has led initiatives to promote student success, including experiential learning opportunities, open education, and improved online and physical spaces. She has also supported research through digital scholarship initiatives, open access publishing, the ethical use of research metrics, and research data management support.
Berg received the 2019 Award of Merit from the Canadian Association of Research Libraries for her sustained leadership in building research capacity within Canada’s academic libraries. Her active research program intersects with her professional interests in equity, diversity, and inclusion; institutional and community partnerships; research culture in academic libraries; and the professional identity of librarians.
