The Hamilton Honey Badgers selected Lancer forward Thomas Kennedy in the Canadian Elite Basketball League draft for the second time, the league announced Wednesday.
Kennedy was picked 10th overall; the business major did not sign with the franchise after it drafted him in 2019. He plans to continue his studies and compete for the Lancers, but says he is excited to have been selected again by Hamilton.
“After a year without basketball I’m very grateful for this opportunity to compete against pros and learn as much as I can from my teammates and coaching staff,” he says. “I’m very thankful to the Honey Badgers for re-drafting me and I look forward to representing the University of Windsor in the process.”
Kennedy’s second year of university play, 2019-20, saw him suit up for all 22 games, lead the league in rebounds with 258, and score an average of 18.6 points per game. His performance earned him the Lancers’ male super sophomore award.
