Student documentary filmmakers from the University of Windsor will join their counterparts from Michigan State University, Oakland University, the University of Michigan, and Wayne State University in having their work screened at this year’s Freep Film Festival.
The new Real Fresh showcase and competition will spotlight top student documentaries during the festival, Sept. 22 to 26. Organizers are planning for in-person and virtual screenings as well as prizes for the best films, as selected by the festival jury and the students themselves.
“We’re very excited about this new initiative, and we can’t thank our collegiate partners enough for helping make it happen,” says the festival’s executive director, Steve Byrne. “We love the idea of spotlighting up-and-coming filmmakers in our event, and we hope to provide a little extra incentive to create their best work.”
