Former Windsor Spitfire player Anthony Stefano will join the Lancer men’s hockey team as he pursues studies in education, head coach Kevin Hamlin announced Wednesday.
Playing left wing and completing a kinesiology degree, Stefano earned academic all-Canadian status with the Western Mustangs.
“In his three previous seasons playing for Western, Anthony has been an important player for his team, and we see that continuing here with the Lancers,” Hamlin said. “He will be with us for two years and will ultimately be an excellent teacher.”
Stefano says his experience in the Ontario Hockey League made him familiar with the city.
“My time with the Spitfires left me with a lasting impression of Windsor and the community, and this played a big factor in my decision to study at UWindsor,” he said. “I'm looking forward to jumping into a leadership role with the team and making a memorable impact in all aspects of the game, both on and off the ice.”
