OHL teammates to lace up for Lancers

Head coach Kevin Hamlin of the Lancer men’s hockey team is enthusiastic about having secured commitments from John Parker-Jones and Matt McNamara of the Peterborough Petes for the 2021-22 season.

“We are really excited to have these tremendous young men wearing the Blue and Gold next season,” Hamlin says. “I feel their incoming skill sets address the needs we have. They both compete hard and are blue-collar individuals who plays better in bigger moments.”

Parker-Jones played three seasons at both forward and defense with the Ontario Hockey League franchise and plans to study criminology.

“A top-tier education with so many highly regarded programs to choose from and an exceptional hockey program — it seems too good to be true,” he says. “Although the season is still months away, I am beyond excited for what Windsor will have in store for me as I move on from the OHL and into the next chapter in my life.”

McNamara a defenseman who will major in sport management, also uses the term “beyond excited” to characterize his feelings on coming to Windsor.

“After numerous talks with Coach Hamlin and some of the current players, I already feel at home,” says McNamara. “Because of this I am beyond excited to embark on this next stage of my life at the University of Windsor.”
