The Organization of Part-time University Students will celebrate Black History Month and African-Canadian heritage more generally when it presents two leaders from the local community as guest speakers on Thursday, Feb. 25.
Linda McCurdy (LLB 1994) is a lawyer and the owner of North Star Cheer, training cheerleaders for competition. Her law practice focuses on criminal law and child protection.
John Elliott is executive director of the Sandwich Teen Action Group and served as city councillor for Ward 2 from 2014 to 2018.
“My life’s work has been a continued commitment to help build a healthy positive environment for the youth and their families,” he says. “It is also important that we as a community work together to protect our historical heritage.”
