The Student Success and Leadership Centre invites faculty who are planning Academic Program Orientations on Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 10:30 a.m. to noon, to submit proposals for the annual fall orientation program no later than Friday, Aug. 14.
Program orientations, Involvement Fair, and the Welcome Celebration are the three key events of “Welcome Day,” says Amber Norman, student development specialist. The sessions will take place Sept. 9 inside vFairs, the same online platform used for Head Start and UWindsor Live.
“Scheduling and cross promoting these three important events as part of Welcome Day within the same platform is in an effort to yield higher attendance and engagement at each,” Norman says.
During Welcome Day, all program orientations will be hosted as interactive sessions in the Auditorium, similar to the UWin 101 presentation during Head Start, using Blackboard Collaborate, a tool that most students will become familiar with at the University as they prepare for classes this Fall.
Following the program orientations, the Involvement Fair will showcase more than 90 campus clubs, societies, services, and resources. The culmination to Welcome Day will be the Welcoming Celebration when the coveted UWindsor Shield will be presented and the draw for $4,000 tuition bursary will take place.
Registering your program orientation session will enable the Student Success and Leadership Centre to create a space within the online platform and promote it to the incoming undergraduate student body.
