The award-winning comedy feature Boys vs. Girls, produced by UWindsor instructors Mike Stasko and Theodore Bezaire, will be distributed in Canada by Mongrel Media and internationally by Gravitas Ventures.
Shot extirely in Windsor-Essex, the film won awards during its festival run, including Best Feature Film and Audience Choice at the Chicago Comedy Film Festival, Best Canadian Feature at the Canadian International Comedy Film Festival, and Best Ensemble Cast at the Florida Comedy Film Festival.
Set in 1990, the film is about the first summer a camp goes co-ed and sparks fly between the counselors. It stars Colin Mochrie, Kevin McDonald, Eric Osborne, and Rachel Dagenais.
“Having both of these companies as partners is huge for us,” says Prof. Stasko, who also wrote and directed the work. “Mongrel Media is a leader in the business and Gravitas Ventures has a stellar track record that speaks for itself.”
Bezaire — who like Stasko, teaches in communication, media and film — adds that this deal will help the filmmakers achieve their ultimate goal: “Working with these amazing partners is going to get our film out to the largest possible audience.”
