A “First Year Transition Toolkit” for students entering the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences puts resources, how-to explanations, video tips from current students, and more in one accessible place.
The online toolkit was developed by the FAHSS Office of the Associate Dean, Academic and Student Success and includes:
- Guidelines for online academic success and resources
- Downloadable versions of fillable schedule templates, graphic organizers, and other tools
- Short videos providing tips for success in first year from current students and faculty members
- Descriptions and links to all the resources available to UWindsor students
“We know the transition from high school to university can be hard,” says Danielle Soulliere, associate dean, academic and student success. “So to help incoming students adjust to their new learning environment, we created this collection of videos, modules, and resources for their ‘FAHSSome’ university experience.”
The toolkit also includes a list and explanation of the new terms, vocabulary, and acronyms students encounter at university.
Tony Vo, co-ordinator of student success initiatives in FAHSS, notes help is available for any need.
“Take a look at what we have to offer through our videos and modules,” he says. “You can also download any resources we have listed.“
