UWindsor staff and faculty are being challenged to add more physical activity into their days for a chance to win prizes.
The Let’s Get Moving Virtual Team Challenge will run April 13 to May 8, getting teams to participate in virtual “climbs” of well-known buildings and mountains. Each 10 minutes of activity will be credited as a two-metre contribution to the team total: walking, dancing, working out, household chores, and more will all count.
“Physical activity can significantly improve our health, strengthening muscles and bones, improving our blood circulation — even boosting the immune system,” says Marcela Ciampa, director of organizational development and training in the Department of Human Resources.
“Being active can also improve mental health and wellbeing, it can uplift your mood making you feel happier and can help you manage anxiety, depression and stress.”
Prizes will be awarded for most creative team name and highest per capita climb, as well as random weekly draws for submitting tracking sheets. Suggested targets range from Big Ben and the CN Tower to Mount Everest.
