Workshops and drop-in sessions to help instructors plan for online and hybrid teaching

Online teaching and learning is an important part of the learning landscape at the University of Windsor, with provincial data showing its students have one of the highest rates of participation in online learning of any institution in the province. This means that students and faculty may be more prepared to take classes online if needed, given that they already have some experience in this mode of teaching and learning.

The Office of Open Learning and the Centre for Teaching and Learning are offering a range of workshops and consultations to help instructors prepare for teaching online and hybrid classes. Starting today, the Office of Open Learning (OOL) is beginning daily drop-in sessions at noon in room 2263, Centre for Engineering Innovation, where instructors can have an informal conversation about any questions they have related to online or hybrid teaching.

On Tuesday, March 17, OOL will run an Online Learning 101 session from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in CEI 1232. The session will cover topics such as running live online classes, facilitating small group work online, communication strategies, recording and sharing videos and screen casts, and free tools to help facilitate online learning. Additional sessions will cover recording and streaming lectures with Blackboard Collaborate, and there are extended courses available to facilitate a deeper dive into online learning.

Instructors can also find up to date resources for planning to move online, and a list of all related workshops on the Blackboard Wiki.
