Hygge theme of Community of Practice event

The comforts of hygge, the Danish concept of coziness and contentment, are on offer at an event organized by the Office of Open Learning on Friday, Nov. 22.

“Final weeks of term are stressful not just for students, but also for instructors, GAs, and TAs,” says learning specialist Nobuko Fujita. “Bring your questions and come connect with friends at our Community of Practice session.”

During long, dark winters in Scandinavia, hygge encourages people to relax and live a little, she says: “Light candles, put on warm socks, and take a break.”

She says the event will also incorporate elements of fika, the Swedish coffee break that promises a warm drink, snacks, and a chance to socialize. The Open Learning team will share some strategies for online assessment, such as online proctoring.

Colleagues from all across the open, online, and technology-enhanced teaching spectrum are invited:

  • beginners just curious about the possibilities,
  • novices who have some ideas about improvements, and
  • veterans who have big dreams about introducing new technologies.

Registration is now open at https://ctl2.uwindsor.ca/openlearning/workshops/9/#wkshp-117.
