Filmmaker Theodore Bezaire, an instructor in the UWindsor Department of Communication, Media and Film and the School of Creative Arts, won the award for best screenplay at the Forest City Film Festival in London, Ont.
His screenplay My Canadian Son is a comedy about a washed-up 1980s movie star trying to bond with his estranged son who lives in Windsor. Bezaire received the award at a ceremony Oct. 27 at London’s Wolf Performance Hall.
“To be recognized by a great festival like Forest City is truly an honour,” he said. “They have a strong focus on the Southwestern Ontario region and it’s really exciting to be a part of this filmmaking groundswell in the area.”
Bezaire also produced the comedy feature Boys vs. Girls, which will be screened by the Windsor International Film Festival at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2.
