Andrew Braithwaite hadn’t set out to become a soap maker. A chef with UWindsor Food Services, he started making natural bath products for his wife a couple of years ago as she battled leukemia.
Now his line of handmade skin care products — soaps, lip balms, moisturizers, and sunscreen — are available for purchase at the Campus Bookstore.
“The products we make use essential oils and natural ingredients so they offer additional health benefits to just smelling good,” says Braithwaite. “They’re anti-stress, anti-anxiety and can treat eczema or psoriasis. There’s a bath product for every purpose.”
Under his Soap Chef brand, Braithwaite offers made-to-order products that can address a client’s individual needs, pursuing his promise of “For healthy skin and a healthy mind.” He has made batches that are scent-free or omit specific allergens. Find more details on his company’s website.
Campus Bookstore manager Cathy Ladouceur says the outlet is proud to sell Soap Chef wares.
“We welcome the chance to support a local entrepreneur like Andrew, and his products are great,” Ladouceur says. “Plus we think they’ll make wonderful gifts, and Mother’s Day is fast approaching!”
Look for the Soap Chef display just inside the front entrance of the store, located on the lower level of the CAW Student Centre.
