Musical performances and an exhibition of artworks by School of Creative Arts students centred a celebration Friday, Jan. 25, of one year in their downtown campus buildings.
The SoCA Armouries and the Alan Wildeman Centre for Creative Arts house programs in music, visual arts, and filmmaking.
Faculty, staff, and students gathered Friday for displays, presentations, and cake.
Veronika Mogyorody, professor emeritus who served as the University’s architectural academic advisor during the project to create the spaces, compared the feeling of accomplishment to being a parent.
“To see you in the hallways and to see you up these stairs … to see you actually here is the most wonderful thing,” she said.
Attendees also heard from choirs director Bruce Kotowich, graduate co-ordinator Michael Darroch, performance area chair Nicholas Papador, operations manager Trevor Pittman, and Jason Grossi, co-ordinator of the Visual Arts and the Built Environment program.
