This year’s bpNichol Chapbook Award presented Nov. 17 at the Toronto Small Press Fair saw UWindsor alumna Hollie Adams as a finalist for her chapbook Deliver Me from Swedish Furniture.
Her chapbook is published by Zed Press, a Windsor-based press co-founded by several graduates of the UWindsor creative writing program: Hannah Watts, Simina Banu, Samie Bauder, Amilcar Nogueira, Jay Rankin, and Christina Angeli.
Adams’ writing was chosen from among an abundance of chapbooks submitted by accomplished authors and presses across Canada as one of five finalists:
- Hollie Adams, Deliver Me from Swedish Furniture (ZED Press)
- Jake Byrne, The Tide (Rahila’s Ghost Press)
- Elee Kraljii Gardiner, Trauma Head (Otter Press)
- Canisia Lubrin, Augur (Gap Riot Press)
- Chuqiao Yang, Reunions in the Year of the Sheep (Baseline Press)
As the winner, Yang received a $4,000 award and Baseline Press won $500 for publishing her winning chapbook.
