Ludwig van Beethoven wrote his 32 piano sonatas between 1795 and 1822. Although originally not intended to be a meaningful whole, as a set they comprise one of the most important collections of works in the history of music, says music professor Philip Adamson.

He will perform four of these works in the keys of A major and E major and minor in recital Friday, November 10. Dr. Adamson retired from his full-time faculty position as professor of piano, piano pedagogy and literature, and skills, in July. However, he continues to teach as a special instructor in the School of Creative Arts.

The recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Assumption Hall’s Heritage Auditorium. Tickets are $20, $5 for students, and may be ordered in advance online or purchased at the door.

A reception honouring Adamson for his 40 years of service to the University of Windsor and scores of music students will follow his performance. Find more details, including the complete concert program, on the event website.
