Ontario University Athletics honoured three members of the Lancer women’s basketball team as the squad prepares for its 10th straight appearance in the league’s final four tournament.
First-year guard Kayah Clarke was named the west division rookie of the year, Emily Prevost received a nod as first-team all-star and forward Cheyanne Roger represents Windsor as a second-team all-star.
Clarke started 17 games in her rookie season and finished third on the Lancers with 11.5 points per game.
Fourth-year forward Prevost led the province in rebounds, with 73 on offense and 135 on defence. Her 14.5 points per game led her team. She was a second-team all-star in 2016. It was a second selection for Roger as well, like Prevost a fourth-year player at forward. Read more at goLancers.ca.
The Lancers will compete for the provincial championship, the Critelli Cup, this weekend in Kingston. The team will open the tournament against the host Queen’s Gaels at 6 p.m. Friday. Find a preview of that match-up and more information on the OUA final four at goLancers.ca.
