Lunch-and-learn session to instruct start-ups in protecting brands

A free lunch-and learn session Wednesday is aimed at anyone interested in logos and branding and how new businesses can protect these types of assets.

Commercial lawyer Bob Baksi will discuss trademark law during the workshop, part of the Entrepreneurship Practice and Innovation Centre (EPICentre)’s EPIC Law Series.

“Use-Less Trade-Marks and Evolving Strategies” will cover the dying requirement for use of a mark in Canada, and what Canadians need to do now to protect their marks of trade. Baksi will also provide an overview of search strategies and considerations, particularly in the context of cross-border commerce and a review of current trade-mark battles of interest.

The event runs noon to 1:30 p.m. February 15 in the Joyce Entrepreneurship Centre. Register on the event website.
