A free public lecture on Thursday, February 2, will explore the Enhanced Assess, Acknowledge, Act (EAAA) program to resist sexual assault. Professor Charlene Senn will speak at 4 p.m. in room 203, Toldo Health Education Centre.
Dr. Senn will explain how the program works, what it accomplishes, her future research, and the next steps for helping universities implement the program.
The EAAA program empowers women through an evidence-based approach. During one year, it reduced sexual violence against women at three Canadian universities by 50 per cent. Positive effects of the program last for at least two years according to recent findings.
Senn is an international expert in the study of violence against women, with an emphasis on sexual assault interventions to develop women's capacity to resist sexual assault. She is a psychology professor cross-appointed to women's and gender studies.
The lecture is hosted by the Health Research Centre for the Study of Violence against Women.
