Panel discussion to raise funds for women’s basketball program

A panel discussion promising behind-the-scenes perspectives on basketball will raise funds for the Lancer women’s team on Saturday, January 28, at the Walkerville Brewery.

Paul Jones, a sportscaster who provides analysis and radio play-by-play for the Toronto Raptors, will interview:

  • Richard Peddie (BComm 1970, honorary LLD 2001), former president of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, owner of the National Basketball League’s Raptors and National Hockey League’s Maple Leafs;
  • Chantal Vallée, head coach of the five-time national champions Lancer women’s basketball team; and
  • Korissa Williams (BComm 2015), Lancer alumna, winner of the BLG award as Canada’s top female university athlete, and a player with Canada’s national program and professional teams.

All will share their knowledge and experiences; the audience will also have a chance to ask questions.

“The Locker Room” also features a meet-and-greet session with current Lancer players and a cash bar. Doors open at 8 p.m. at the brewery, located at 525 Argyle Road.

Tickets are available at two levels of support. General admission of $50 will entitle the donor to a tax receipt for $35. VIP tickets include two drink tickets, a T-shirt, recognition at the event and a tax receipt for $75.
