Program promises leadership experience for student volunteers

The Lead program provides interested students with opportunities to build skills while gaining valuable experience, says Amber Norman of the Student Success Centre.

Enrolees enjoy experiential learning opportunities that foster mentorship, critical thinking, teamwork, professionalism, and campus spirit.

“Our volunteers add tremendous value to their resumes, graduate school applications, and UWindsor Co-Curricular Transcripts by choosing from the many opportunities available to them,” says Norman, a student development specialist.

This year the Lead program has experienced a number of changes, not only to the way it’s organized, but also in the kinds of opportunities available to students. In keeping with the direction set by the Office of Student Experience, the Lead program emphasizes the intrinsic value of what it means to support and mentor others and further make a difference inside and outside the campus community.

Volunteer opportunities are available for a variety of programs on campus, including:

  • Head Start
  • UWindsor Welcome Week
  • Campus Community Garden
  • Lancer spirit initiatives
  • Service learning

The deadline to apply is Friday, January 27. Find more information, including an online application, at www.uwindsor.ca/Lead.
