By 2035, global energy consumption will increase by 50 percent while the energy sector’s water consumption will increase by 85 percent, according to a report by the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands. At the same time, 2.8 billion people will live in areas of high water scarcity.

The 2016 Energy and Water Symposium and Industry Summit, June 22 and 23 on the UWindsor campus, will examine the interrelationships between societal energy and water use and the transition toward a more sustainable world. It will bring together scientists, engineers, policy makers, captains of industry and entrepreneurs to quantify, question and propose solutions for sustainable water and energy utilization.
