A member of the bar in Ontario, New York and Massachusetts, lawyer John Richardson will discuss efforts to prevent the Canadian government from reporting financial info of Canadian residents to the US government, Thursday at Windsor Law.
Richardson is co-chair of the Alliance for the Defence of Canadian Sovereignty. The group opposes an agreement that will see Revenue Canada collect taxpayer information from financial institutions in Canada and disclose it to US tax authorities.
His presentation, “The U.S. Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and Disclosure of Canadian Taxpayer Information,” is free and open to the public. It will run 12:30 to 2 p.m. October 8, in room 1111, Ron W. Ianni Faculty of Law Building and is sponsored by the Transnational Law and Justice Network.
