Paul Howard, a sessional instructor in the Faculty of Law, was recently appointed judge of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice by Peter MacKay, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada.
Howard is a lawyer with Shibley Righton LLP in Windsor and was a full-time assistant professor at Faculty of Law from 2000 to 2001 while on sabbatical from the firm.
“This is an exceptional and well-deserved honour for Judge Howard,” says Faculty of Law dean Camille Cameron. “Windsor Law and its students have benefitted greatly from his experience and contributions and we wish him the very best as he takes on this important new role.”
Admitted to the Bar of Ontario in 1988, Howard became an associate at Shibley Righton LLP and became a partner in 2004 where he practised civil litigation, administrative law, constitutional law, employment law, and labour law.
He had been a seminar instructor for the Public Law course of the Bar Admission Course in Toronto and Windsor from 1991 to 2006 and served as a member of the planning committee of the Chief Justice of Ontario’s Advisory Committee on Professionalism for the colloquium held in Windsor in 2008.
