Law students spent time Monday skipping rope, blowing bubbles and hula-hooping in what organizers called a throwback to their childhoods.
The Recess for Mental Health Awareness was part of a province-wide effort, said local coordinator Elisa Durante.
“The point is to get students to stop and take a little break from stress,” she said. Her table in the law school’s lower-level lobby distributed active toys like balls and jump ropes, as well as healthy snacks like fruit and juice.
Third-year law student Sheldon Reiche said he appreciated the chance to relax a bit.
“Law school can be a pretty stressful environment,” he said as he took a spin with a hula hoop.
The Ontario Law Student Mental Health Initiative is using the occasion to advertise JustBalance.ca, a website geared to promoting the well-being of law students.
