It is happening all across the United States—rural landowners wake up one day to find a lucrative offer from an energy company wanting to lease their property to tap natural gas deposits.
When filmmaker Josh Fox received his offer, he embarked on a cross-country odyssey uncovering a trail of secrets, lies and contamination. The resulting film, GasLand, was nominated for a 2011 Academy Award for Best Documentary.
UWindsor Green will sponsor a free public screening of the film as part of its Environmental Wednesdays series on February 4 at 2 p.m. in the International Student Centre, located on the second floor of Laurier Hall.
