The finalists have been selected and voting is now open in the Leddy Library Research Question Competition.

And prizes aren’t just for the most interesting question—voters are entered into a draw just for picking their favourite! Prizes of $50 each will be awarded in three categories: the question receiving the most votes, one randomly selected question, and one randomly selected voter.

Signs have popped up on lawns across campus, each bearing one of the 30 final questions.

“We wanted to give some profile to our finalists,” says contest organizer Simon du Toit. “We’re in the final stretch now—balloting closes at midnight on December 3, the last day of classes.”

The competition is the first step in promoting a university-wide research conference scheduled for the CAW Student Centre in March 2015.

“We hope this competition will encourage all our students to consider submitting a proposal to present their research, in any field,” says Dr. du Toit. “Research-based creative work is welcome too! Students are doing so much exciting work on our campus, and we hope to celebrate that in March.”
