Drama students give cakes 40 whacks

Call it a bloody treat. Members of the cast of Blood Relations used a butcher knife and an axe to cut up cakes and serve pieces to grateful passersby Wednesday in the CAW Student Centre.

“We want the entire campus to know about our theatre company,” says University Players marketing coordinator Anna Galka. “We are so proud of the quality drama we produce that we decided to bring it out to the students.”

The cake was well-received, too, she adds.

Blood Relations dramatizes the gripping events surrounding Lizzie Borden, a spinster accused of murdering her parents in 1892 Massachusetts. The play’s run continues through Sunday in the Hatch Studio Theatre, Jackman Dramatic Art Centre.

Performances Wednesday through Saturday are at 8 p.m.; matinees Saturday and Sunday are at 2 p.m. Order tickets online at www.UniversityPlayers.com or by calling 519-253-3000, ext. 2808.
