Lancer men’s hockey head coach Kevin Hamlin and members of his Queen’s Cup provincial champion team will launch an instructional program for children from 6 to 13 years old this July as part of the athletics department’s summer camps program.
The camp will focus on power skating, individual skill development and team play, as well as instructional scrimmages with an emphasis on positional play. Each weekly session will provide 10 hours of on-ice instruction for 6- and 7-year-olds, and 15 hours for older participants. In addition, campers will receive interactive off-ice instruction to reinforce the on-ice curriculum.
“I am thrilled to be helping launch our first-ever Lancer Hockey Academy,” Hamlin said. “The goal of our summer hockey academy is to offer an exciting camp opportunity at an extremely affordable price for our community’s youth with an emphasis on skill development and having fun.”
Weekly sessions run from July 7 to August 15 at a cost of $225 each. Find more information—including camp descriptions and registration forms—on the Lancer summer camps website.
