A fourth-year student of communications and visual arts has had a class assignment selected for inclusion in a book published by Photographer’s Forum magazine.
Simon Allen said he was pleased with the result of his project using “pathways” as a metaphor for professor Brenda Francis Pelkey’s course on documentary photography.
“It just speaks to me,” he said of the image, shot along a Windsor street in late fall 2013. “I like the technical properties, the clarity and the depth.”
When he learned of the Photographer’s Forum contest, Allen though: “Why not enter?”
His selection as a finalist from over 16,500 submissions won him publication in the hardbound full-colour book, Best of College and High School Photography 2014. He said he will purchase two copies of the completed book: one for himself and one for his mother.
