Women’s basketball to host provincial championship game Saturday

The Ontario University Athletics title will be on the line when the Lancer women’s basketball team hosts the Queen’s Gaels on Saturday, March 8, at 7 p.m. in the St. Denis Centre.

Fans won’t want to miss the action as Windsor shoots for its fifth banner in the last six years. Admission is $12, with a youth and senior rate of $10 and UWindsor student price of $3. Tickets are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today in the St. Denis Centre foyer, or at the gate Saturday starting at 6 p.m. The contest will be webcast live at GoLancers.TV.

League bestows honours on five Lancers

Five members of the No. 1 ranked Lancer women’s basketball team won honours Tuesday, when the OUA announced west division major award winners and all-stars.

Miah-Marie Langlois was named defensive player of the year and a first-team all-star, both for the third straight season; Jessica Clemençon was a first-team all-star selection for the fifth consecutive year; Korissa Williams won her second straight berth as a second-team all-star; first-year forward Cheyanne Roger won all-rookie honours; and head coach Chantal Vallée has been named the west division coach of the year for the fourth time in her nine years with Windsor.

Men’s player named to all-Canadian squad

On the men’s side, Canadian Interuniversity Sport named Lancer Lien Phillip a first-team all-Canadian on Wednesday.

A fifth-year power forward, Phillip will close out his career with the Lancers as the program’s all-time leader with 1125 rebounds, and third overall in scoring with 1338 points.
