A new Mental Health Strategy for Legal Aid Ontario is intended to bring positive change for low-income residents who have unmet legal needs, says Marion Overholt, director of Legal Assistance of Windsor.
“Our clinic is ideally suited to address our clients’ problems in a holistic way, because we offer both law and social work services,” she says. “I am delighted that Legal Aid Ontario is recognizing the importance of mental health and its impact on our clients.”
The community is invited to hear Legal Aid Ontario policy counsel Ryan Fritsch discuss changes to the way lawyers, front-line workers and management will serve clients with mental illness during Legal Assistance of Windsor’s annual general meeting, tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Canterbury College, 2500 University Avenue West.
