The University of Windsor strongly embraces the principles of putting students first, meeting the needs of the creative economy, and focussing on productivity, innovation and sustainability, says a document released by president Alan Wildeman on December 20.
The draft Strategic Mandate Agreement sets out the University’s position under Ontario’s differentiation policy, which requires the province’s universities to identify their institutional strengths.
“It is the commitment to students, community, and building on our strengths that makes the University of Windsor a vital contributor to southwest Ontario,” the document says. “Increasingly, we are creating opportunities for students to be a part of that creativity and engagement with the world around us, through teaching, research, co-op, entrepreneurship, and other activities, and through the very design of the campus we are building.”
The provincial government has set a deadline of March 31 for the final agreements. Dr. Wildeman invites feedback and suggestions before that deadline at president@uwindsor.ca. Read the entire document on the presidential communications website.
