Potential for west-end nature refuge topic of public lecture

Ojibway Shores is a green refuge connecting the Detroit River to a string of parks protecting sensitive animal and plant habitats in LaSalle. Its potential development in the vicinity of a new international bridge crossing and the possible establishment of a Canadian component of the International Wildlife Refuge is the topic of a free public lecture on Wednesday, December 18.

Phil Roberts, a well-known conservationist—a founding member and president of the Essex County Field Naturalists, will speak on “The Ojibway Shores Expansion Project” as part of the Science CafĂ© series. Sponsored by the Faculty of Science, the series offers discussion of important science research for the general public.

Wednesday’s lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Canada South Science City, 930 Marion Avenue.
