Book signings by three local authors will highlight UWindsor employee discount day at the University Bookstore, Friday, November 29.
The store will extend to all faculty and staff a discount of 10 percent off everything in both locations—Vanier Hall and the kiosk in the CAW Student Centre—except textbooks and computers. The kiosk is also the setting for signings by local authors Paul Vasey, Rino Bortolin and Owen Jones, Friday from noon to 2 p.m.
Vasey’s latest book is The River: A Memoir of Life in the Border Cities, a tribute by one of Windsor’s most celebrated journalists to a place he discovered by chance and has loved over a lifetime.
Bortolin is the author of Rino’s Kitchen: Cooking Local in Windsor & Essex County, a collection of his recipes making use of the rich and varied agricultural products of Windsor-Essex.
Jones has written and published Music from Windsor: Generations of local minstrels tell their tales, a scrapbook of local musical history from the 1930s to the present.
“Any of these books would make a fabulous gift for the holidays, for the end of the semester, or just because you need a good read for a long winter’s night,” says Bookstore marketing coordinator Martin Deck. “The employee discount makes any purchase more attractive and we hope that faculty and staff will take advantage of our gesture of appreciation.”
The Bookstore in Vanier Hall is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Bookstore kiosk from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
