The Anthony P. Toldo Health Education Centre opened to great fanfare in 2003 as one of the first of a new wave of state-of-the-art buildings constructed to meet the research and educational needs of students in a new millennium.

Construction of the building was supported by the generous contributions of late Windsor industrialist Tony Toldo. Built to house office, laboratory and classroom space for the Faculty of Nursing, it also features seven large lecture halls that meet the needs of the entire campus community.

A mere decade later, it is part of a greater education complex that now includes the Medical Education Building, home to the Schulich School of Medicine — Windsor Program. The 2012 completion of the MEB’s third floor now provides research collaboration space for the Faculty of Nursing, consisting of a 56-seat classroom, seminar and meeting rooms, group learning suites, simulation laboratories for nursing and medical students, as well as nursing offices.

Before his death in 2009, Toldo received an honorary doctorate from the University in recognition of his dedication to the well-being of his community. He also received the Order of Canada in 2007.
