A provincial campaign aimed at heightening awareness about the importance of university research is looking for student researchers who can act as its ambassadors.
Research Matters is a campaign run by the Council of Ontario Universities. Each of Ontario’s 21 universities has a faculty representative who appears in videos on the campaign’s web site, participates in public speaking series and other promotional events.
“Much in the same way we have faculty representatives, we wanted to include student ambassadors who can broaden the conversation and speak to the importance of student research,” said Patchen Barss, the campaign’s managing editor.
Student ambassadors would be required to remain in the position for the rest of the academic year, and would be called upon to participate in a video shoot in Toronto, attend a promotional event in London, and to help promote their love of research both on and off campus.
If you know of a student who would make a great ambassador for the University of Windsor, you can nominate them by sending their name, a brief description of their work, and why they would make a great ambassador to stephen.fields@uwindsor.ca.
