Cleaner function in sleeker interface goal of CLEW upgrade

An upgrade to the University’s learning management system will include several new features users had been asking for, as well as a refreshed user interface and improved stability, security and sustainability, says Lorie Stolarchuk of the Centre for Teaching and Learning.

The centre plans to launch version 2.9.2 of the Collaboration and Learning Environment Windsor (CLEW) on August 26.

“This new version is better-looking and will provide users with an improved interface that is clearer and better-organized,” Stolarchuk says. “It also addresses more than 20 security issues and well over 500 bugs.”

She says that students will be happy to see it incorporates a profile tool that allows the “social media connectedness” they had asked for. Faculty will be pleased with a text editor that enables pasting content directly into relevant fields, and later this fall, an added option in Gradebook that functions on the University’s new 100-point scale.
