The School for Arts and Creative Innovation has issued an invitation to UWindsor alumni to submit works of art for a juried exhibition celebrating the University’s 50th anniversary.
The exhibition will be held at Mackenzie Hall Cultural Centre in conjunction with a music recital during the Celebration Weekend, September 19 to 22. Organizers will pay artist fees for selected artworks.
The jury members are alumna Sarah Beveridge (BFA 1997), director of SB Contemporary Art Gallery, and visual arts instructors Julie Sando and Rod Strickland.
Sando said the School of Visual Arts held its 50th anniversary reunion in 2010, but welcomes the chance to bring its graduates together again.
“Many talented and thoughtful individuals have passed through the BFA and MFA programs at Windsor and we all feel we could do more to celebrate them,” she said. “As we move downtown, there will be many changes—including changing our name to the School for Arts and Creative Innovation—but we'll look for opportunities amid these changes to support the work of our graduates.”
To submit works for consideration, please e-mail a jpeg photo file of up to five pieces to jsando@uwindsor.ca by 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 10.
